Review of Sprit Legacy, by E. E. Holmes

I haven’t been this captivated by a book in quite a while. My favorite part of fantasy novels is the build-up, where the main character is slowly learning who they really are, and thier abilities begin to develop. In Spirit Legacy, by E.E. Holmes, the entire book was like this.

As an aside – and yes I’m going to use this comparison, but I promise it’s to make a point – in Harry Potter, what piqued my interest enough to keep me reading through book 7, wasn’t just the plot. It was learning and growing with Harry. Every new discovery made this classic book even more magical. E.E. Holmes has done something quite similar. Every turn of the page is like a new discovery, as we learn what is happening to the main character, Jess Ballard. It’s not until the very end of the book that we learn what she is, and what she can do with her power.

I’m enthralled, and so excited for book 2. I have a feeling it’s going to be just as good as the first. Now we know what Jess really is, and get to see her truly learn what she is capable of.
